Market Studies in White and Color
Personal Work
If food is our shared language, my photographic work is a dialect which makes the viewer lean in, squint, and raise an eyebrow.
My most recent work examines the results of hand-painting fruits and vegetables—either voiding them of most color, or saturating them in Hockney-esque palettes—arranging them under the full-sun in my backyard, and digitally capturing their image.
By taking brush to skin, or peel, or leaf, I am able to coat each unique texture in colors (though rarely found in nature) that enhance the perceptibility of their forms. Viewers are left rediscovering the garnish on their plate or the fruit in their cocktail.
